Built Different from Day One

After 17 years in the telecommunications industry, Julio Martinez had seen the same problem on every ISP engagement: too many vendors, too many gaps. A carrier would hire one firm for survey, another for design, a third for permitting — and lose weeks to coordination overhead at every seam.

In 2018, he founded Draftech International to fix that. The idea was straightforward: build one team capable of owning the entire lifecycle — field survey, HLD/LLD fiber design, pole loading analysis, permitting, CAD/GIS production, and as-builts — so a client never has to manage the gap between vendors again.

What started in Miami has grown into a 600-engineer operation active in 22 states and available to deploy across all 50 U.S. states. In 2024, Draftech was officially recognized as a Certified Minority Business Enterprise — a milestone that reflects both who the company is and how it competes.

Every partner still works deals, reviews designs, and talks to clients directly. The scale has changed; the operating model hasn't.

Our Process

How Draftech Delivers

Every Draftech engagement follows a structured four-phase process that keeps clients informed, deliverables compliant, and projects on schedule — from initial scoping through final as-built submission.

01

Scope & Assessment

We review project geography, grant requirements, utility infrastructure, and permitting jurisdiction to produce an accurate scope of work. This phase includes terrain analysis, existing infrastructure review, and a project timeline tied to BEAD grant milestones.

02

Field Survey & Data Collection

Our field technicians collect GPS-referenced pole inventory, existing attachment data, and route condition reports. Survey outputs are formatted for direct use in AutoCAD and GIS design environments, eliminating rework between field and design teams.

03

Engineering & Design

Draftech engineers produce HLD route plans, FDH sizing, splitter architecture, and construction-ready drawing sets. Permitting applications are filed concurrently with design, shortening overall project timelines by weeks. All design deliverables are reviewed internally before client submission.

04

As-Built Documentation

After construction, Draftech produces BEAD-compliant as-built documentation including updated GIS shapefiles, splice records, and final route drawings that reflect field-verified construction. These deliverables are formatted for state broadband office closeout submissions and long-term network records.

Why Clients Choose Draftech

With over 44,000 miles of fiber infrastructure documented and active deployments across 22 states, Draftech brings depth of experience that smaller engineering firms cannot match. As an MBE-certified firm, we also help prime contractors and ISPs satisfy diversity contracting requirements embedded in BEAD grant agreements. Our partners average over 20 years of telecom engineering experience and are directly involved in every client engagement — not delegated to junior staff.

Draftech operates under a single-firm model — no subcontracting of engineering to third-party vendors. Every phase from field survey through final as-built is produced by Draftech engineers, giving clients a single point of accountability and consistent deliverable quality across all 50 U.S. states.
